World Book Day: What’s Happening in Colombia?

In our Annual Report last year, we shared information about our literacy programme in Colombia.  We stated that there are no quick fixes in developing children’s reading skills, it requires the efforts of parents, teachers, policy makers, as well as organisations, like us at the Breteau Foundation, to provide the necessary support.  Our approach is to build a passion for reading in young people so that every child we reach develops this life skill and no child in one of our project schools, departs Grade 6, unable to read.

In 2020, we are continuing our programme to encourage children to read in order to promote an interest in reading, support reading comprehension…and we expect to see more great results.
